Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
La Place bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps John's head backwards.
It looks like Harley John has been cut.
John dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on La Place. That did some damage!
Luiz Roberto La Place seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
John throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. La Place was covering up waiting for the punch and John finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
La Place looking to hit a scissor sweep but John is one step ahead there.
John must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

John clinches up with La Place and pushes him back against the cage.
John tried to land a shot to the body but connects with La Place's elbow.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

John jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as La Place walks away with a smile on his face. John gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

La Place tries to land a sweep but no joy.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now La Place is on top in guard.
La Place thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

John wants to get back to his feet but La Place is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
La Place tries to free his leg and advance position but John is retaining full guard.

La Place is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
John moves into the clinch.
John wants a takedown but no success here.

La Place is pressed up against the cage. John has hold of a leg and is looking to drag La Place down to the mat. La Place avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
La Place shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with John but John pushes him off and we're back to square one.

La Place sizes up John with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

John shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. La Place is trying to defend but John finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

La Place throws his legs up looking for a submission but John uses it to pass to side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

John decides to stand up, so the ref orders La Place to his feet.

A close round but Harley John will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Nice defenses there by La Place.
La Place throws a series of punches but John moves out of range.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
La Place wants to sweep here but John controlling him for the moment.
John decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
La Place stuns John with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
La Place throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck John on the side of the head.
A punch combination from La Place misses.
La Place shoots in and bounces John off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
La Place won't allow John to get back to his feet.

so John counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
John gets to his feet. La Place looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
John shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Well, if John is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

John is nestled in close to La Place, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That's time! La Place's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
La Place shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and John counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
John winds up and cracks La Place with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

La Place gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

and John counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
La Place is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and John defends well.
John wants to pass the guard but La Place is keeping the position.
John thows a big elbow that misses.

La Place is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst John is controlling him.
John got a little sloppy there for a moment and La Place has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, John has managed to get both his arms back between La Place's legs - danger averted.

Harley John is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
John has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Harley John comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
