Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vasiliy Arkhipov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Mercury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mercury is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Shawn Michaels -Sexy Boy. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vasiliy Arkhipov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Eddie Mercury! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Arkhipov missing with a left hand there. Mercury was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Arkhipov throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Arkhipov throws the left hand but Mercury avoids the punch easily. Arkhipov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mercury throws a left and a right that both miss
and Arkhipov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Arkhipov misses with a few strikes there.
Mercury fails to land the takedown. Mercury misses with the combination.
Mercury fails with a takedown attempt. Donk. Arkhipov catches Mercury right on the button with a cross. Arkhipov looks to throw the jab but Mercury is out of range. Mercury misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Arkhipov counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arkhipov bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Mercury uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Arkhipov. Arkhipov slips a jab from Mercury. The fighters circling - Arkhipov throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Mercury looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Vasiliy Arkhipov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddie Mercury. Mercury ducks under a wild hook from Arkhipov. Arkhipov fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Mercury throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Arkhipov throws a body punch but Mercury moves out of range. A left and a right from Arkhipov both land. Nice combination. Mercury fails with a takedown attempt. Nice shot by Arkhipov.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Arkhipov throws out a loose jab but Mercury uses good head movement to avoid it. Mercury rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Arkhipov moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Arkhipov misses with a looping right. Arkhipov stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Arkhipov catches Mercury with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Arkhipov throws a body punch but Mercury moves out of range. Arkhipov swinging wildly here.
Arkhipov jabbing away but nothing is landing. Mercury takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Arkhipov looks to land a left hand but Mercury moved out of range nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Arkhipov has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Mercury finds it's way round the side to connect with Arkhipov's head. Arkhipov misses with a hook to the body
and Mercury counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mercury. Mercury trying to control but Arkhipov is working from the bottom. Mercury throws a big right hand that misses. Arkhipov has Mercury pulled in close to control his posture. Arkhipov wants to stand and escape but Mercury is having none of it. Mercury has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Arkhipov looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Mercury postures up.
Mercury loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Mercury stands up and waves to Arkhipov to follow him. Mercury staying out of range there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Arkhipov staying out of range there. Arkhipov throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Mercury misses the body punch enabling Arkhipov to counter with a crisp jab. Mercury has a takedown stuffed. Arkhipov connects with a crisp jab. Arkhipov is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Mercury throws a right hand that Arkhipov ducks under and follows up with a left that Arkhipov also avoids with ease. Arkhipov lands a jab to the nose. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mercury takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Arkhipov misses with a looping left. Arkhipov avoids the body shot from Mercury.
Mercury uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Arkhipov. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vasiliy Arkhipov dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Mercury fails to land the takedown. Mercury changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Arkhipov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Arkhipov tries to get back to half guard but can't. Arkhipov manages to work his way to half guard, despite Mercury's best efforts. Mercury missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Arkhipov wants to get back to full guard. Mercury works his way into full mount! Mercury has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Arkhipov's face.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Arkhipov is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arkhipov is bucking up trying to escape but Mercury cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Mercury scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mercury punishing his opponent with strikes. Mercury unloading with bombs! Arkhipov is in a horrible position here. Mercury smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The referee warns Arkhipov that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Arkhipov taking shots to the head. Oh Arkhipov is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Mercury lands with some strikes. Arkhipov seems to have got his legs back now. Arkhipov is bucking up trying to escape but Mercury cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Mercury drops a big elbow. That's hurt Arkhipov! More shots from Mercury and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
