The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dox will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Gasques counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Dox tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gasques paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Gasques must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Joe Gasques seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Gasques counters with a nice body shot.
Dox tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gasques sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dox somewhat.

Dox closes the distance and clinches up with Gasques, looking for a takedown. Dox pushes Gasques against the cage but Gasques circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dox changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gasques tries to avoid it but Dox manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gasques to the ground. Gasques escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gasques tests Dox's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Gasques is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Dox is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Gasques rolls with it to try and escape but Dox cranks on the arm and Gasques is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
