Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Studders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jee Gee!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Studders shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Studders was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Gee suckers Studders into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Gee is now in Studders's guard!
Gee trying to control but Studders is working from the bottom.
Studders bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gee's guard.
Studders looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Studders wants to control from the top but Gee keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Studders wants to stand but Gee is controlling his posture from full guard.
Studders is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Studders accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Studders controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Gee is trying to keep Studders in close.

Studders would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Studders trying to control the position from guard on top but Gee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Studders tries to close the distance and clinch but Gee swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gee ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Studders shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gee defends it nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Studders is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gee's half guard.
Studders not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Studders is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gee sees it coming and defends easily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Gee gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Studders counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Studders.

Studders breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Studders closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gee did well to prevent Studders getting side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like Studders is going to stand back up.
Studders wants to pass to mount but Gee is defending the position.
Gee is breathing heavily.
Studders looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Studders stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Gee fails with the takedown

and Studders counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gee's guard now.
Studders controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Studders trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Gee trying to control the position.

Gee has a closed guard, preventing Studders from standing up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Studders closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Studders trying to control from half guard but Gee is working away.
Studders wants to free his trapped foot but Gee is holding on for dear life with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Studders scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Studders not doing much here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Gee holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Studders with the ground and pound but Gee uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Andrew Studders overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Studders has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gee is proving hard to escape from.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Studders slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jee Gee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Andrew Studders is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Gee in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
