Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andre Romano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter Piper! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Piper closes the distance and clinches. Piper tries for a takedown but Romano manages to get underhooks.

Piper has clasped his hands together around Romano's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Piper advances nicely into full mount. Piper is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Romano can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Romano is looking to improve his position but Piper isn't that keen on the idea. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Romano avoids a series of strikes thrown by Piper.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Piper throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Romano's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Piper postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Romano looks a forlorn figure.
Piper content just to control the position here. Romano prevents Piper from taking his back. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Peter Piper dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Romano moves out of range as Piper strikes. Romano is looking to slow Piper down with leg kicks. Romano lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Romano will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Romano is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Piper sees it coming and defends easily. Piper pushes Romano off looking to stand but Romano dives back in and keeps control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Piper lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Romano at a distance.

Piper thows a body shot but no joy. Romano throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Piper decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Romano's guard. Piper decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Piper throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Piper throws a lazy right hand but Romano sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Romano throws a head kick but Piper moves out of range.

He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Piper will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Romano had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Piper defends it easily. Romano keeping moving, preventing Piper from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Piper stands and throws Romano's legs to the side, diving into side control. Romano is not content to let Piper control the position. Piper is trying to get an arm triangle but Romano is defending well. Peter Piper is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Piper is looking to take a break and control but Romano is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Piper decides to stand back up. Piper steps back and let's Romano get back to his feet. A combination from Romano does no damage. Piper fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Romano misses with a head kick.

Romano is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Piper pulls his head out easily. Peter Piper has got the better of the ground game so far. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Piper seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
And that's the end of the fight! Peter Piper comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Piper winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
