The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
hizo throws a hook but Backstrom blocks it.
Backstrom blocks a jab.
hizo throws a right and a left that Backstrom avoids nicely.
pedro hizo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Backstrom moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Backstrom moves into the clinch.
Backstrom tries to land knees in the clinch but hizo avoids the damage to the body.

Backstrom wants to lay and pray for a moment but hizo keeps working.

hizo avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Backstrom.
Backstrom looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
hizo dodges the ground and pound from Backstrom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Backstrom tries to close the distance and clinch but hizo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Backstrom looks to land a right hand but hizo moved out of range.
Backstrom uses good head movement to avoid the hook from hizo.
hizo clobbers Backstrom with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
hizo leaves Backstrom with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
hizo throws the left hand but Backstrom avoids the punch easily.
Backstrom takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and hizo counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Backstrom thinking.
