Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kale Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew McPain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cruz comes to the cage accompanied by Welcome to the Jungle. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kale Cruz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matthew McPain! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cruz keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
McPain throws a nice looking combination but Cruz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. McPain misses with a looping right. Cruz throws a series of punches but McPain avoids them all with ease. McPain misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nice uppercut there from Cruz. Cruz throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McPain sees it coming and avoids it easily. McPain shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cruz as he jumps to the side. McPain throws a sloppy head kick and Cruz moves out of range easily. McPain closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. McPain wants to work for an arm triangle but Cruz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cruz keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Cruz moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Cruz has his foot on McPain's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McPain works his way back into a safe position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cruz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Cruz has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. McPain wants to pass the guard but Cruz is keeping the position. McPain postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cruz keeping moving, preventing McPain from controlling successfully. Cruz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. McPain stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Cruz has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! McPain manages to get his head free but now Cruz has transitioned to an armbar! McPain grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Cruz! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kale Cruz!
