PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Ripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Ace Hood - Get em as his entrance music. Jack Ripper has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Ripper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Travis Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ripper looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Ripper displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jackson.
Jackson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ripper tries to avoid it but Jackson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ripper to the ground. Ripper escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Jackson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ripper avoids it really well and circles away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ripper moves away from the strike by Jackson.
Ripper tries to bum rush Jackson with a series of wild strikes but Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Ripper lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Jackson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

That was a close round but I would say that Jack Ripper will probably get the nod.

Ripper turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Ripper is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jackson connects with a decent elbow.
Jackson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Travis Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ripper is in a horrible position here. Jackson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jackson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Jackson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ripper to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ripper shrugs it off.
Jackson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ripper is looking to escape.

Travis Jackson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jackson has hold of Ripper's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ripper manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

I think Jackson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
