PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thai Boran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellis has chosen his Ram Muay performance as his entrance music. Shane Ellis will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Thai Boran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shane Ellis!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boran tries to clinch up but Ellis circles away and keeps his distance.
Boran misses with an uppercut. Ellis saw that one coming.
Ellis throws a head kick but Boran moves out of range.
The fighters circle momentarily. Boran darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Ellis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boran tries to avoid it but Ellis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boran to the ground. Boran escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Boran misses with an uppercut. Ellis saw that one coming.
Boran tries to clinch but Ellis moves out of range.
Boran avoids the head kick by Ellis.
Ellis ducks under a wild hook from Boran.
Ellis lands with a kick to the temple. Boran shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


It looks like Thai Boran has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Boran could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Boran throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ellis stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Shane Ellis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ellis takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Boran scores with a sloppy right hand. Ellis should have avoided that one.
Boran fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ellis looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ellis looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Boran cracks Ellis with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Maybe Boran would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Boran gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ellis stays in close to Boran's body and controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boran is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ellis drops back looking for a leg! Boran is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Boran manages to kick Ellis off! Ellis jumps back into Boran's guard.

Ellis will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Boran lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Boran, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
