PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo the sinister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aldo is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Lil Jon "Snap Yo Fingers" ft Sean Paul & E-40. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo throws a head kick that misses.
Aldo shoots in for a takedown but the sinister shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

the sinister closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Aldo to the mat! Aldo manages to get full guard.

the sinister stands and steps away. Aldo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Aldo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

the sinister got a little sloppy there for a moment and Aldo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, the sinister has managed to get both his arms back between Aldo's legs - danger averted.

Aldo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. the sinister defends it easily.
the sinister chips away with some ground and pound.
Aldo wants to stand up but the sinister is controlling him.
the sinister knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Aldo on the ground.
Aldo wants to sweep but no luck.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Donk. the sinister catches Aldo right on the button with a cross.
Aldo misses with a head kick.
the sinister throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Aldo's waist but Aldo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing the sinister off to one side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rodrigo the sinister dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

the sinister pushes off an throws an elbow but Aldo leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Aldo connects with a nasty looking knee right to the sinister's face.
Aldo wants to stall.

the sinister pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Aldo has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
the sinister plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

and the sinister counters with a right hand to the body.

the sinister closes the distance and clinches.

the sinister swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Aldo tries to bench press the sinister off him but the sinister keeps the position.

Aldo is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, the sinister asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Aldo shoots in looking for a takedown. the sinister tries to sprawl out of it but Aldo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. the sinister manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Rodrigo the sinister has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Aldo.

the sinister working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Aldo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but the sinister pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aldo has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for the sinister. Oh but Aldo has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! the sinister goes limp - he's gone! Aldo jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
