Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Igor Koslov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Shogun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mauricio Shogun has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Igor Koslov's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Koslov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mauricio Shogun!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Shogun looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Koslov drops Shogun with a left right combo! Koslov follows him down to the ground into side control.


It looks like Mauricio Shogun has been cut.
Koslov tries to advance to mount but Shogun denies him.
Koslov is looking to take a break and control but Shogun is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Koslov tries to score with some ground and pound. Shogun controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Shogun is not content to let Koslov control the position.
Koslov moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Shogun is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Koslov asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Shogun is trying to get back to half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Shogun shoots in for a takedown but Koslov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Shogun moves in looking to clinch but Koslov pushes him off.

Koslov drops Shogun with a nice combination! Koslov dives into Shogun's guard, looking to finish!
Koslov tries to free his leg and advance position but Shogun is retaining full guard.
Koslov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Koslov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Koslov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Koslov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Shogun is keeping the position for now.

Koslov is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Shogun is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Shogun has escaped and now he's on top!
Koslov is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Shogun thows a big elbow that misses.
Koslov wants to stand but Shogun is controlling the position.
Shogun wanted to stand there but Koslov had control of the position.
Shogun wants to pass the guard but Koslov is keeping the position.
Koslov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shogun is controlling him.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Koslov pulls Shogun in close to his closed guard and prevents Shogun from doing any damage or advancing position.
Shogun won't allow Koslov to sweep him here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Koslov tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Shogun counters with a single leg into guard. Koslov didn't expect that.

Koslov pushes Shogun off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Shogun looks gassed!
Shogun takes one to the side of the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Koslov wants to clinch up but Shogun keeps it at a distance.
Shogun moves out of range of the body kick from Koslov.

Koslov has closed the distance and engaged Shogun in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Koslov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Koslov shoots in looking for a takedown. Shogun tries to sprawl out of it but Koslov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shogun manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice defenses there by Koslov.

Shogun jumps guard and drags Koslov to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Shogun lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Koslov!
Koslov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Koslov bucks Shogun off and manages to get back to his feet!

Koslov decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Koslov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shogun sprawls well initially but Koslov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Koslov is looking to advance position but Shogun won't allow it.

Well, if Koslov is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Koslov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Koslov is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Koslov stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Shogun misses with the combination.
Koslov scores with a nice strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Koslov drives through and clinches with Shogun against the cage.
Koslov lands a nice uppercut.

enabling Shogun to counter with a crisp jab.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Igor Koslov just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

and Koslov counters with a good, hard body kick but Shogun shrugs it off.

Koslov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Shogun swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Koslov counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Koslov gets the takedown into side control.

Koslov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Koslov trying to control the position but Shogun is working away.

Koslov decides to stand back up. Koslov steps back and let's Shogun get back to his feet.
Koslov connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Koslov tests Shogun's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Koslov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Shogun gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Shogun takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Koslov clinches with his opponent.
Koslov slows down the pace here.

Koslov pulls guard.
Igor Koslov is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Koslov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Shogun is trying to stand.
Mauricio Shogun has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Koslov is controlling the pace.

Well Koslov has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
