Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Glass Bong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Benton! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Reed Andrews and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bong fails with a takedown attempt. Benton keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Benton swings for the body but Bong moves out of range.
Benton scores with a nice right hand.
Bong tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Benton swivels and escapes. Benton throws a nice looking combination but Bong bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Benton loads up on a big right hand but Bong slips the punch. Benton moves into range and connects with a jab. Benton misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bong.
Bong throws a wild body kick that Benton sees coming a mile off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bong throws a looping overhand right but Benton ducks down to avoid it. Bong changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Benton tries to avoid it but Bong manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Benton to the ground. Benton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Glass Bong. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bong shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Benton sprawls well. Benton wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bong gets slowly back to his feet. Bong uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Benton.
Bob Benton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Benton tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bong was well out of range. Poor timing from Benton. Benton scores with a crisp jab that stopped Bong in his tracks. Bob Benton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Bong takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Benton gets caught flat footed, as Bong shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bong trying to control but Benton is working from the bottom. Benton looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bong is one step ahead there. Bong is stalling in the full guard. Bong trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Benton wants to stand and escape but Bong is having none of it. Bong looking to pass the guard. Benton lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bong! Bong sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bong is trying to control but can't.
Benton tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Bong. Bong wants to improve his position but Benton is controlling well.
Bong is working hard here to advance position. Benton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bong. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The fighters are battling for position here. Bong manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Benton prevents Bong from getting back to his feet. Benton tries to stand but Bong is controlling from the bottom.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Bong fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Bong moves away from the strike by Benton. Bong lands a head kick!
Benton takes a swing at Bong's ribcage but misses. Benton throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Benton throws a right and a left that both miss. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Benton!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Benton lands a body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bob Benton dominated that round. That's time! Bong's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Benton fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bong manages to avoid it. Bong slips a jab and a cross from Benton.
Benton lands a nice shot that snaps Bong's head back.
Bong throws a sloppy head kick and Benton moves out of range easily. Bob Benton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Bong scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Bong working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Bong is looking to take a break and control but Benton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Benton pecks away with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bong in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Benton is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
