Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danny Welds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Danny Welds! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ken Masters! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Masters lands a really nice looking cross but Welds seems unphased.
Masters throws a shot from downtown. Welds moves away and avoids it. Welds shoots for a takedown but Masters saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Masters swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Welds scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Masters doesn't seem bothered though. Masters throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Welds shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Welds closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Masters gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Masters keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Masters sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Welds working over Masters with some ground and pound. Masters looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Masters moves into full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Masters tries to free his leg and advance position but Welds is retaining full guard. Masters looks gassed!

Welds is looking for a sweep. Masters is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Masters working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Welds's thigh. Welds counters though and makes it back to full guard. Masters sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Welds's guard. Masters is pressing down on Welds's thigh, looking to free his foot. Welds is holding on for now. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Masters is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Welds tries to roll over but Masters keeps him under control. Masters is looking for a kimura here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Masters stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Masters wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Welds. That's going to take a lot out of him. Welds uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Masters. Masters throws a right and a left that both miss. Nice sprawl there from Masters as Welds shoots in. No luck for Welds with that takedown attempt. Welds shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Masters pinned against the cage. Masters gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Masters lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Welds circles away quickly and effectively. Masters sizes up Welds with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Masters avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Ken Masters is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Welds shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Masters as he jumps to the side. Masters with a jab. Masters misses with a double jab.

A close round but Ken Masters will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
A left and a right from Masters both land. Nice combination. Masters fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Welds shoots for a double leg takedown but Masters sprawls well. He's pushed Welds's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Masters's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Masters duly obliges. Masters misses with a jab, cross combination.
Masters moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Welds rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Masters moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Masters lands with a nice combination. Welds backs away looking to recover. Welds tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Masters misses with the combination.
Masters looks to land a combination. Welds sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Masters rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Welds moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Welds looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Masters is fending him off so far but Welds persists. Nope, Masters circles away and we're back to standing. Masters throws a left and a right that both miss

Welds is nestled in close to Masters, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Welds is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Welds slips a nice elbow through Masters's hands, connecting with Masters's forehead. Masters works his way to full guard. Good work. Welds lands a couple of elbows. Masters escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Welds gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Welds trying to control the position from guard on top but Masters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Welds looks up at the clock and then as Masters takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Welds smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Ken Masters is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Masters wants to control but Welds is keeping busy and won't allow it. Welds controlling the pace. Welds takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Masters is trying to get back to full guard. Masters is trying to maintain the position but Welds is very close to passing his half guard.
