PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Diaz's choice of entrance music: Downstait - I Came to Play. Rick Diaz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rick Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taylor looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Diaz!
A nice elbow there by Taylor.
Diaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Taylor. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Taylor with a couple of short strikes.
Taylor has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Taylor lands a nice shot to the head.
Taylor has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Diaz's face.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Diaz wants to hold on but Taylor pushes him away.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Diaz tries to reverse the position but Taylor maintains control.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Taylor is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Diaz can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


Diaz is rocked!


It looks like Rick Diaz has been cut.
Diaz tries to lock up and control but Taylor gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Taylor throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Diaz because Taylor loaded up on that one.
Diaz can't escape the position.
Diaz tries to hold on but Taylor pushes him away.
Taylor tries to control but Diaz wriggling away.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The cut above Rick Diaz's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Taylor jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Diaz is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Diaz and Taylor has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Diaz parries the strikes from Taylor easily there. Taylor is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Diaz to escape.

Diaz might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Taylor kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Diaz is not content to let Taylor control the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Taylor wants to control but Diaz is keeping him busy.
Taylor connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Diaz some visible discomfort.
Diaz wants to control but Taylor postures up.
Taylor cracks Diaz with a big elbow.
Taylor is chipping away with strikes.

Taylor working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Taylor is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Diaz has escaped the position, nice work there.

Taylor wants to control but Diaz is keeping him busy.
Diaz is trying to control Taylor's posture but Taylor avoids it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rick Diaz's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Rick Diaz's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Jesse Taylor!
