Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Willy Cody (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Willy Cody!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, Steve Fox!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cody throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fox swings for the body but Cody moves out of range.

Fox shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Fox trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Fox avoids the attempt from Cody to control.
Cody is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Poor strikes thrown by Fox there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Fox goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Cody turns into him and now he's in Fox's guard.
Fox wants to sweep here but Cody controlling him for the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fox not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Fox pulls Cody in close to prevent any damage.
Cody preventing the sweep.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cody would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Fox bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cody's guard.
Fox trying to move into half guard but instead Cody has managed to sweep!
Fox pulls Cody in close to prevent any damage.
Cody trying to control the position from guard on top but Fox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fox is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Fox is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cody is controlling him.
Fox looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cody tries to clinch up.
Fox throws a looping overhand right but Cody ducks down to avoid it.
Cody doesn't manage to clinch there - Fox circles away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Fox shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Cody avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Cody wants to stand up but Fox is controlling him.
Fox throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cody works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Fox controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Fox pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cody is keeping the position for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cody wants to get back to his feet but Fox is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Fox dominated that round.
That's time! Cody's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Fox slips a jab and a cross from Cody.

Fox throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cody was covering up waiting for the punch and Fox finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cody keeping moving, preventing Fox from controlling successfully.
Fox looking to sit in guard and control but Cody gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Fox controls Cody momentarily but Cody frees himself.

Fox has control of Cody's left arm, preventing Cody from doing any damage.
Fox is trying to hold Cody in close to prevent damage but Cody has managed to pass into half guard.
Fox is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fox wants to get back to full guard but Cody has passed into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Fox doing his best to control the position. Can he escape?
Fox is trying to escape the mount.
Fox tries to lock up and control but Cody gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Fox can't escape the position.
Cody avoids the attempt from Fox to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fox really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Fox wants to control but Cody is having none of it.
Fox is desperately trying to improve his position but Cody has a good base and remains in mount.
Cody can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fox is looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Fox wants to hold on but Cody pushes him away.
Fox is trying desperately to improve position.
Cody looking to control but Fox is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fox wants to control but Cody is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Fox showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Fox circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cody is looking to clinch but Fox is avoiding it.
Cody tries to clinch up but Fox circles away and keeps his distance.
Cody tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fox swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cody is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cody tries to land a front kick but Fox steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Fox drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Steve Fox.
Cody tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fox swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Fox throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cody sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Cody gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Fox to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Fox trying to control but Cody is working from the bottom.
Cody is trying to control the position but Fox postures up.

Cody pushes Fox off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Cody scores with a head kick.


It looks like Steve Fox has been cut.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Fox shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cody but Cody pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Willy Cody is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Cody throws a sloppy head kick and Fox moves out of range easily.
Cody tries to clinch up but Fox circles away and keeps his distance.

Fox jabs Cody right on the nose. Cody blinks but takes it well.
Cody connects with a high kick.
Fox is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Cody.

Cody gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fox wants to control from the top but Cody keeps moving.

Fox trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Fox slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Willy Cody has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fox postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Steve Fox is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Cody looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Fox sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Fox with a flurry of punches that miss.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Willy Cody.
I think Fox has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
