Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jose Alberto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jose Alberto! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dean Reed! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reed fails with a takedown attempt. Reed misses with a straight right. Reed shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Reed looks to score with a jab to the body but Alberto is just out of range. Reed ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Alberto moves away. Reed tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alberto sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Reed somewhat. Jose Alberto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dean Reed. Reed misses with a body shot.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Alberto shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Reed's guard. Reed is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Reed swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Reed takes a swing at Alberto's ribcage but misses. The fighters circling - Reed throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Reed sizes up Alberto with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Dean Reed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alberto misses with a looping left. Reed tries for a takedown but Alberto circles away easily and Alberto counters with a stiff right hand. Alberto drives through with a takedown into guard. Reed trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Reed is looking for a triangle but Alberto pushes his legs off easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Reed doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
