Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Gilmore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Davis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Gilmore! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gilmore gets caught flat footed, as Davis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Gilmore is trying to keep Davis in close.
Gilmore has his foot on Davis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Davis works his way back into a safe position though. Gilmore had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Davis is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Gilmore Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Davis's back instead. Davis is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Davis wants to escape the position.
Gilmore is not going to allow Davis to sit and survive in this position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Davis tries to escape but Gilmore has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Gilmore avoiding Davis 's attempts to control his hands. Gilmore looking for the choke from the back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis wants to escape the position but for the time being he's just trying to control the pace. Davis rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Gilmore prevents Davis from improving his position. Davis keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Davis wants to control but Gilmore is keeping busy.
Gilmore wants to work for an arm triangle but Davis is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Gilmore is looking for a kimura here.
Gilmore looks gassed! Davis landing strikes from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Gilmore trying to pass the guard but Davis defending well.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Gilmore misses with a wild body shot. Davis looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Gilmore! Davis looking to finish Gilmore with some ground and pound. This is bad for Gilmore! Davis has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gilmore's face.
Gilmore is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Davis cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Davis prevents Gilmore from getting the reversal. Davis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Gilmore regains half guard. Davis drops an elbow to the side of Gilmore's head. Davis missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Gilmore works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gilmore tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gilmore has his foot on Davis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Davis works his way back into a safe position though. Davis preventing the sweep. Gilmore manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Davis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gilmore on the ground. Gilmore looking to secure an arm triangle but Davis defends it well. Gilmore is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Davis is surviving well by controlling Gilmore's body position as best he can. Davis working to try and regain half guard.
Gilmore has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Davis's face.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davis is squirming around, avoiding Gilmore's attempts to control the action. Gilmore jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Davis manages to avoid the submission attempt. Sloppy strikes there by Gilmore. Davis is looking for a sweep. A bit of a lull in the action here. Gilmore tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gilmore has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Davis is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Davis is trying to control but can't.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Davis wants to get back to full guard. Gilmore seems to be looking for submissions.
Gilmore wants to take a breather but Davis is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Johnny Davis will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Gilmore keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Gilmore looks to land a combination but Davis avoids it well. Gilmore avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Davis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gilmore swivels and escapes. Davis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Davis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Gilmore is desperately trying to improve his position but Davis has a good base and remains in mount. Davis tries to control but Gilmore wriggling away. Gilmore is wriggling around trying to escape.
Gilmore regains half guard. Gilmore actively working from the bottom here. Gilmore on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Davis slips a nice elbow through Gilmore's hands, connecting with Gilmore's forehead. Davis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gilmore keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gilmore gets back to full guard.

Davis content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Johnny Davis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Davis postures up and lands a big shot to Gilmore's brow. Gilmore escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Davis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gilmore wants to improve his position but instead Davis has moved into half guard.
Gilmore actively working from the bottom here. Davis is thwarting Gilmore's attempts to control the position. Gilmore manages to get to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gilmore lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Davis! Gilmore tries to control but Davis wriggling away. Gilmore has control of Davis's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Davis regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Gilmore fails to take his opponent's back. Gilmore moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Davis has worked his arm free - good work by Davis!
Gilmore is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Davis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davis tries to escape but Gilmore is in control. Gilmore decides to stand back up. Gilmore steps back and let's Davis get back to his feet. Davis is looking to clinch but Gilmore is avoiding it.
Davis tries for a takedown but Gilmore sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Davis is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Gilmore keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Davis fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Davis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gilmore swats him away and circles back towards the center. Johnny Davis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Gilmore avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gilmore looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Davis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Davis is looking to control Gilmore's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Davis avoid being mounted?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davis makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Davis. Davis on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Davis tries to get out of the position. Gilmore thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Gilmore looking to pass the guard. Gilmore is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Gilmore thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Davis keeping moving, preventing Gilmore from controlling successfully. Gilmore postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Davis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gilmore counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Davis doesn't succeed with the takedown and Gilmore counters with a low kick, right behind Davis 's knee. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Gilmore showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Davis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Davis scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Gilmore lands a head kick. Davis smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Gilmore closes this distance looking for a takedown but Davis circles away. Davis fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Davis tries to clinch up and Gilmore counters with a good low kick that Davis was not able to check. Gilmore misses with a double jab
and Davis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gilmore's guard. Davis looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Gilmore looking to hit a scissor sweep but Davis is one step ahead there. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gilmore is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Davis frees his head nicely. Oh but Gilmore has switched to an armbar! Davis is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
