The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Heijeerk will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Malone looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Van Heijeerk is fending him off so far but Malone persists. Nope, Van Heijeerk circles away and we're back to standing.
Van Heijeerk throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Malone's waist but Malone gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Van Heijeerk off to one side.

A looping hook to the body misses from Van Heijeerk. Malone does a little dance to reset his feet.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ronald Van Heijeerk will probably get the nod.

and Malone counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Van Heijeerk!
Van Heijeerk is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Van Heijeerk avoids a strike by Malone and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Malone's guard! Fantastic escape!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Malone can do anything to dispel that myth.
