PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Allowin Baaf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uiva Nakki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baaf kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is 'Wild Boys' by Duran Duran. Nakki is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Pulkkinen - Ruusulaulu. Allowin Baaf has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Allowin Baaf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Uiva Nakki!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baaf catches Nakki with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Baaf lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Nakki is trying hard to land a takedown here. Baaf sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Baaf swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Nakki.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Baaf.
Nice defenses there by Baaf.
Nakki lands a jab to the nose.
Baaf goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Baaf lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Allowin Baaf seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Baaf tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nakki was well out of range. Poor timing from Baaf.
Nakki takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Baaf walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Nakki checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Baaf turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Nakki checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Good leg kick by Nakki there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Baaf lands with a kick to the temple. Nakki shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Nakki throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Baaf bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Nakki misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Baaf throws a head kick that misses.

Nakki gets the takedown into side control.
Baaf tries to improve position but can't.
Baaf is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Nakki asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Nakki fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Baaf prevents Nakki from improving position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Allowin Baaf.

and Baaf makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Baaf cracks Nakki with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Baaf lands a really nice looking cross but Nakki seems unphased.
Nakki throws a leg kick but Baaf checks it.
Baaf is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
A looping hook to the body misses from Nakki. Baaf does a little dance to reset his feet.

Baaf rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nakki moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Allowin Baaf is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Baaf motions for Nakki to come forward. Baaf throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Nakki throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Baaf tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Nakki is able to avoid easily.
Nakki takes a kick to the side of the head.
Nakki cracks Baaf with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Baaf throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Baaf is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Baaf fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Nakki.
Nakki shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

and Baaf counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Nakki moves forwards but Baaf connects with a nice, crisp jab.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Nakki pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nakki.
Baaf uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nakki.

Baaf lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

An elbow from Nakki crashes against the mat.
Nakki throws an elbow but Baaf slips to the side and avoids it well.
Nakki tries to move into full mount but can't pass Baaf's legs.
A bit of a lull in the action here.

Baaf wants to control but Nakki postures up.
Baaf manages to get back to half guard.
Baaf is trying to maintain the position but Nakki is very close to passing his half guard.
Nakki tries to pass to full mount but Baaf defends it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nakki prevents Baaf from improving his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Baaf's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Nakki shoots for a takedown but Baaf saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Baaf displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Nakki throws out the jab.
Baaf throws a sloppy head kick and Nakki moves out of range easily.
Nakki's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Baaf lands with a straight right. Nakki didn't see that one coming.

Nakki feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Nakki postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Baaf is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Nakki drops back looking for a leg! Baaf is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Baaf manages to kick Nakki off! Nakki jumps back into Baaf's guard.
Nakki takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Nakki pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Baaf is keeping the position for now.
Uiva Nakki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Nakki throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Baaf works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Baaf is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Baaf performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Allowin Baaf is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Nakki tries to roll over but Baaf keeps him under control.
The fighters are battling for position here. Nakki manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Baaf is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Baaf trying to control but Nakki is working from the bottom.
Nakki manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Baaf manages to get himself to full guard.
Baaf is pulling down on Nakki's head to control his posture.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Allowin Baaf.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Baaf, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
