Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Beast Severn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bruce Banner! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Banner is looking to clinch. Severn defending well as Banner loads up on a big left hand. Banner tries to clinch but Severn moves out of range. Severn closes the distance and clinches up with Banner, looking for a takedown. Severn pushes Banner against the cage but Banner circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Severn swats away the attempt to clinch by Banner. Banner throws a series of punches but Severn moves out of range. Banner throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Severn dodges the punch combination from Banner.
Severn throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Banner was covering up waiting for the punch and Severn finishes the takedown easily into guard. Severn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Banner is wriggling around but Severn manages to pass to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Severn seems to be working for a kimura but Banner defends the submission attempt. Severn is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Banner doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Severn. Banner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Severn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Severn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Banner defends it well. Severn is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Severn has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Banner defend it? Severn steps over the head and cranks it - Banner is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Severn!
