Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hammond Chese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Hawks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hammond Chese!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Hawks!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawks fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chese avoids it really well and circles away.

Hawks throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Chese was covering up waiting for the punch and Hawks finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hawks throwing strikes from guard but Chese blocks nicely.
Chese wants to stand and escape but Hawks is having none of it.
Chese knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hawks on the ground.

Hawks drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Chese manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hawks has Chese in his guard.
Chese wants to pass the guard but Hawks is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chese content to stall in guard here.

Chese wants to stand but Hawks is controlling his posture from full guard.

Hawks is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hawks looking to control.
Hawks will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Hawks wants to get back to his feet but Chese is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Chese tries to free his leg and advance position but Hawks is retaining full guard.
Hawks wants to stand up but Chese is controlling him.
Chese has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horrible takedown by Hawks or perhaps it was just good defense by Chese which made him look bad.
Chese could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hawks tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Chese has managed to clinch.
Hawks is trying to break the clinch but Chese is controlling him.

Chese has hold of one of Hawks's legs. Hawks is fighting the takedown attempt but Chese gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Hawks looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hawks thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Hawks has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hawks wants to stand up but Chese is controlling him.
Chese thows a big elbow that misses.

Hawks is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hawks pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Chese clinches up with Hawks and pushes him back against the cage.
Hawks has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Chese wants a takedown but no success here.
Chese prevents a takedown attempt there.
Hammond Chese has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Hawks.

Hawks has Chese pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Chese manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Hawks wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Chese has him pressed against the cage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hawks wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Chese gets underhooks to prevent Hawks's takedown attempt.

Chese breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Chese scoring well with a low kick there.
Hawks dives in and grabs Chese's left leg, looking for a takedown. Chese pushes down on Hawks's head and hops out.

Chese moves into the clinch successfully.

Chese has clasped his hands together around Hawks's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Hawks is trying to work for a sweep but Chese has mounted him!
Hawks is in a horrible position here. Chese smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Hawks wants to control but Chese is having none of it.
Chese postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hawks looks a forlorn figure.
Hawks is desperately trying to improve his position but Chese has a good base and remains in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Chese's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Hawks is looking to land body kicks.

Hawks closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Chese tries to roll over but Hawks keeps him under control.

Chese kicks Hawks off and gets back to his feet.
Chese slaps away a takedown attempt from Hawks, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Chese keeps Hawks at a distance using the push kick.
Chese misses with a straight right.
Hawks throws a head kick that misses.

Chese moves into range and clinches up with Hawks.
Chese looking to throw knees to the head but Hawks is blocking nicely.
Hawks wants to break free but Chese has control.
Hawks drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Chese tries to score a body lock takedown but Hawks shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hawks has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Hawks sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Chese counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Hawks is trying to control but can't.
Chese is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Chese prevents Hawks from standing back up.
Hawks is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hawks misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Chese content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Chese has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Hawks shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

Hawks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chese doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chese manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Chese stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hawks swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hawks has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Chese is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hawks.

Hawks shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chese defends it nicely.

Chese darts in and clinches Hawks up against the cage.

Hawks gets control of Chese's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hawks will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Well Chese has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
