The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapointe closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Lapointe wants to free his trapped foot but Freeman is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Freeman is trying to get back to full guard.
Lapointe stalling.
Lapointe stops Freeman from getting back to his feet.
Lapointe looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Freeman is trying to stand.
Freeman looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Freeman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Freeman moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Freeman with a lazy takedown attempt
and Lapointe counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lapointe.
Lapointe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Freeman is keeping the position for now.
Lapointe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lapointe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Lapointe looking to sit in guard and control but Freeman gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Freeman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Freeman is breathing heavily.
Lapointe has his foot on Freeman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Freeman works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Freeman looking to sit in guard and control but Lapointe gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Lapointe decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Freeman, up you get!
Freeman tries to clinch up
and Lapointe counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Freeman!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lapointe postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Freeman looks a forlorn figure.
Lapointe blocks Freeman's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Lapointe moves to the back.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Freeman preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Lapointe.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Freeman rolls, trying to escape but Lapointe keeps control of the position.

Freeman won't enjoy being in this position. Lapointe looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Freeman is tapping - it's over boys! Lapointe picks up the submission victory!
