Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel McVicar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Pontare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Daniel McVicar has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Daniel McVicar seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Daniel McVicar! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roger Pontare! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McVicar getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Pontare looks for a takedown but McVicar sprawls well. McVicar shoots and misses and Pontare counters with a takedown into side control. Pontare scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at McVicar to see if he's OK. Pontare has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. McVicar avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Pontare. McVicar dodges the ground and pound from Pontare. Pontare lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. McVicar is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pontare's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Pontare is looking to advance position but McVicar won't allow it. Pontare seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Pontare has his takedown stuffed and McVicar counters with a nice uppercut. McVicar closes the distance and lands a one-two. Pontare has his takedown stuffed letting McVicar counter with a right hand. Pontare doesn't succeed with the takedown and McVicar counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. McVicar scores with a nice head shot. McVicar lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
McVicar works over Pontare's head and body with a nice combination. Pontare shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and McVicar counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Daniel McVicar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roger Pontare. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. McVicar scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. McVicar throws a sloppy head kick and Pontare moves out of range easily. McVicar with a poor takedown so Pontare counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. McVicar pulls Pontare in close to prevent any damage. Pontare lands a couple of decent looking shots. Pontare is pushing down on McVicar's leg trying to pass to half guard. McVicar is fighting to maintain full guard but Pontare has managed to sneak the leg through. Pontare tries to pass to full mount but McVicar defends it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. McVicar stalks Pontare and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Pontare's face. Pontare staggers backwards, shaken. McVicar looking for a takedown here - he's got it. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Pontare holds on and takes a little breather.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Roger Pontare. I think Pontare has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
