The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pekoni avoids the head kick by Ace.
Pekoni shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Pekoni looking to sit in guard and control but Ace gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Ace being controlled here momentarily.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Ace tries to free his leg and advance position but Pekoni is retaining full guard.
Pekoni is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ace wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Pekoni's closed guard. He's half up but Pekoni has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Pekoni pivots and extends the arm, Ace falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Pekoni! Well done that man!
