The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Descartes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Heffernan wants to stand up but Descartes is controlling him.
Heffernan keeping moving, preventing Descartes from controlling successfully.
Descartes throws and elbow that misses. Heffernan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Descartes's guard. Nice move by Heffernan !
Descartes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Descartes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Descartes tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Descartes takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Heffernan misses with an attempted mid kick.
Descartes has managed to clinch.
Heffernan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A solid leg kick lands there for Heffernan .
Descartes moves out of range as Heffernan throws a body kick.
Heffernan tries to clinch but Descartes moves out of range.

Thud! ouch! good body kick from Heffernan - that will leave a mark!
Descartes looks gassed!
A head kick by Heffernan - that's a beauty! Descartes is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Heffernan can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!
