Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ragnar Brorsfjell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikita Chernuha! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Illya Tyunina and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brorsfjell misses with a wild combination.
A right-left combo lands from Brorsfjell.
It looks like Nikita Chernuha has been cut. Chernuha fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Brorsfjell leaves Chernuha with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Chernuha tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brorsfjell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Chernuha somewhat. Ragnar Brorsfjell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nikita Chernuha. Chernuha closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Brorsfjell did well to prevent Chernuha getting side control. Brorsfjell trying to control but Chernuha postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chernuha seems to be looking for submissions.
Brorsfjell wants to get back to his feet. Chernuha is trying to work for a kimura but Brorsfjell is defending well.
Brorsfjell makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Chernuha closes the distance and clinches up with Brorsfjell, looking for a takedown. Chernuha pushes Brorsfjell against the cage but Brorsfjell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Chernuha fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Chernuha looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Chernuha gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Brorsfjell would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Chernuha working for a triangle but Brorsfjell defends it easily.
Brorsfjell tries to stand but Chernuha is controlling from the bottom. Chernuha escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brorsfjell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Chernuha is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Brorsfjell defends well. Brorsfjell wants to stand but Chernuha is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brorsfjell stands up and waves to Chernuha to follow him. Chernuha bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chernuha is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Brorsfjell is trying to escape and Chernuha transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Brorsfjell is forced to tap! Nice work there by Chernuha! Very nice indeed!
