PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jumalaton Hirmu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hirmu might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Halloween Theme. Jumalaton Hirmu has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hirmu shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jones defends it nicely.
Jones looks for a takedown but Hirmu sprawls well.
Jones fails with the takedown.
Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Hirmu on that attempt.
Hirmu lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Hirmu pushes him off.

Hirmu tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes.

Hirmu shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Hirmu closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Hirmu drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jones dives on top into guard.

Jones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Jones tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hirmu knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Jones is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Hirmu regains full guard. Nicely done.
Jones passes Hirmu's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Jones is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hirmu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jones is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hirmu has managed to free his arm - good work.
Jones passes to side control.
Hirmu is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Jones has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jones tries for a kimura but Hirmu is defending well.

Jones is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hirmu knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Jones wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hirmu, who protects the arm well.

A close round but Max Jones will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Jones looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hirmu is fending him off so far but Jones persists. Nope, Hirmu circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones.
Hirmu throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jones.

Jones manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hirmu's best efforts.

Hirmu is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well.

Hirmu thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hirmu throws and elbow that misses. Jones uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hirmu's guard. Nice move by Jones!

Jones has gone for a leg lock! Hirmu slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jones's guard.

Jones looking for a triangle here. Hirmu is fighting it but it looks tight! Jones pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Hirmu is tapping out - this one is all over!
