PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kajou Ryuhei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexsei Neustroeff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Neustroeff has chosen I'm a man as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kajou Ryuhei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alexsei Neustroeff!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Neustroeff tries to clinch up.
Ryuhei tries to close the distance and clinch up but Neustroeff swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Neustroeff darts in and clinches Ryuhei up against the cage.
Ryuhei lands a right hand.
A battle for position here, against the cage.

Ryuhei pulls guard successfully.
Neustroeff seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Neustroeff trying to control the position from guard on top but Ryuhei is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ryuhei looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ryuhei pushes Neustroeff off and scrambles back to his feet.
Alexsei Neustroeff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Neustroeff gets the takedown into side control.

Neustroeff wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ryuhei keeps working.
Ryuhei tries to escape but Neustroeff is in control.

Neustroeff tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Ryuhei manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Neustroeff is refusing to be controlled, as Ryuhei sits in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Neustroeff displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ryuhei.

and Neustroeff counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ryuhei won't be happy with that.

Ryuhei tries to buck Neustroeff off but Neustroeff is having none of it.

Nice takedown defense from Neustroeff. No joy for Ryuhei on that attempt.

Neustroeff wants to clinch up but Ryuhei keeps it at a distance.

Neustroeff darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Neustroeff is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Neustroeff shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Ryuhei wants to hold on but Neustroeff pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ryuhei is in all sorts of trouble here.
Ryuhei is squirming around, avoiding Neustroeff's attempts to control the action.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neustroeff throwing strikes here but Ryuhei is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Neustroeff can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ryuhei is looking to escape.
Neustroeff tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Ryuhei wants to control but Neustroeff is having none of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ryuhei is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Neustroeff cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Neustroeff sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Neustroeff's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Neustroeff working the ground and pound effectively.
Neustroeff lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ryuhei hang on?
Neustroeff controlling from the full mount.

Despite being in the dominant position, Alexsei Neustroeff just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Neustroeff lands a right hook to the body.

Neustroeff tries to clinch there but Ryuhei circles away.
Neustroeff shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ryuhei but Ryuhei pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ryuhei throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ryuhei shoots and misses
and Neustroeff counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Ryuhei is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Neustroeff counters with a shoot takedown. Ryuhei fights it but they end up in guard.
Ryuhei is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexsei Neustroeff showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ryuhei darts in and clinches Neustroeff up against the cage.
Ryuhei gets underhooks to prevent Neustroeff's takedown attempt.

Kajou Ryuhei has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexsei Neustroeff.
Ryuhei lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Neustroeff tries to pull guard but Ryuhei won't allow it.
Ryuhei scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Neustroeff drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ryuhei manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Neustroeff has Ryuhei in his guard.
Neustroeff is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Neustroeff bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ryuhei's guard.
Neustroeff content to stall in guard here.
Ryuhei not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Neustroeff has gone for a leg lock! Ryuhei slips out almost immediately though and dives into Neustroeff's guard.

Ryuhei wants to control from the top but Neustroeff keeps moving.
Kajou Ryuhei has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ryuhei is looking to work some ground and pound but Neustroeff has wrist control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kajou Ryuhei showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Neustroeff has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
