Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vasen Koukku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jyrska Velmu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vasen Koukku!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jyrska Velmu!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velmu gets caught flat footed, as Koukku shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Koukku is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Velmu looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Koukku trying to control the position from guard on top but Velmu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Velmu has a closed guard, preventing Koukku from standing up.
Velmu is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Koukku defends well.
Koukku thows a big elbow that misses.
Velmu is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Koukku's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Velmu had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Koukku defends it easily.
Koukku slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Koukku decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Koukku shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Velmu's guard.
Velmu is looking for a triangle here but Koukku uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Koukku cracks Velmu with a big right hand but Velmu just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Velmu is looking to regain half guard here but Koukku keeps moving and retains side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Velmu is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Koukku sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Velmu is looking to get to half guard.
Velmu reaches up to try and control the position but Koukku seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Velmu rolls and tries to escape and now Koukku has his back!
Koukku is riding his opponent, not letting Velmu buck him off.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Velmu tries for a takedown but Koukku circles away easily
and Koukku counters with a shoot takedown. Velmu fights it but they end up in guard.
Koukku wants to control from the top but Velmu keeps moving.
Koukku chips away with some ground and pound.
Velmu working for submissions but it's allowed Koukku to get to half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Velmu has a hand on Koukku's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Koukku takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Koukku tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Koukku pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Koukku avoids the attempt from Velmu to control.
Velmu slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Koukku takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Velmu moves into full guard.

Velmu is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Koukku is aware though and is defending well.
Vasen Koukku overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Koukku cracks Velmu with a solid left hand.
Koukku wants to stand but Velmu has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Koukku trying to control the position from guard on top but Velmu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Koukku wants to pass the guard but Velmu is keeping the position.
Koukku wants to get up but he can't break Velmu's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Koukku has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Koukku is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Velmu has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Koukku is looking to defend but Velmu has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Koukku! Velmu pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Koukku taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jyrska Velmu!
