Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leifr Eiriksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Wein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eiriksson comes into the arena with Life is wonderful blaring out of the sound system. Leifr Eiriksson could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to John Wein's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Leifr Eiriksson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Wein!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wein lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.


It looks like Leifr Eiriksson has been cut.
Eiriksson checks a leg kick.
Eiriksson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Eiriksson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Wein stuffs the takedown attempt from Eiriksson. Eiriksson gets slowly back to his feet.
Eiriksson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wein accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Wein throws and elbow that misses. Eiriksson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wein's guard. Nice move by Eiriksson!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wein tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Eiriksson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but John Wein will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Wein throws a left and a right that both miss
and Eiriksson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Eiriksson lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Eiriksson is looking to clinch but Wein is avoiding it.
John Wein seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A jab-cross combination lands for Wein and sends Eiriksson crashing to the mat! Wein follows him down to the mat - Eiriksson regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wein prevents Eiriksson from improving his position.
Eiriksson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Wein thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Wein seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Eiriksson lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Wein or not.
Wein is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Eiriksson is keeping busy.
Wein lands a left hand that snaps the head of Eiriksson backwards.
Eiriksson jumps guard but Wein stands there with Eiriksson around his waist. Eiriksson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Wein takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Eiriksson is trying to drag Wein to the mat but Wein just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Wein in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wein can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well Wein has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
