The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jaffar changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hayato looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hayato looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Jaffar advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jaffar jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hayato is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hayato and Jaffar has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Jaffar tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Jaffar looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Hayato gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Hayato prevents Jaffar from taking his back.
Jaffar takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Jaffar looking to break Hayato's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Hayato remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Jaffar will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Jaffar is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Hayato won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Jaffar off his unconscious opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Said Jaffar!
