The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Thompson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Thompson wants to control but Silva is keeping him busy.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Silva throws a series of punches but Thompson moves out of range.
Vitor Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thompson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Silva.
Silva swings for the body but Thompson moves out of range.
Thompson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thompson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Silva has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Silva has left one of his arms exposed and Thompson doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Silva screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
