Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Abagnale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Almeida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank Abagnale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Almeida!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Almeida moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Almeida throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Almeida tries to bum rush Abagnale with a series of wild strikes but Abagnale uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Almeida tries to clinch up but Abagnale circles away and keeps his distance.

Abagnale feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Abagnale postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Almeida is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Abagnale, into his guard.
Almeida is stalling in the full guard.
Almeida's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Almeida tries to free his leg and advance position but Abagnale is retaining full guard.
Almeida trying to control the position from guard on top but Abagnale is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Almeida's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Abagnale is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Almeida wants to stand but Abagnale has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Almeida decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Almeida looks gassed!

Abagnale clinches up with Almeida and pushes him back against the cage.
Almeida goes for a takedown in the clinch but Abagnale prevents it.
Abagnale wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Almeida has picked Abagnale up - he's going for a ride! Almeida dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Abagnale is doing well to control the position and prevent Almeida from advancing to side control.

Almeida wants to get back to his feet.
Almeida thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Almeida perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Almeida seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Abagnale does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Almeida is thwarting Abagnale's attempts to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Abagnale looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Almeida!

Almeida is squirming around, avoiding Abagnale's attempts to control the action.
Abagnale lands a heavy elbow.
Abagnale trying to control but Almeida is having none of it.
Abagnale postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Almeida looks a forlorn figure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Paulo Almeida will probably get the nod.

The fight stays on the outside here - Abagnale looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Almeida scores with a one two! Abagnale had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Abagnale tries a head kick but it misses.

and Almeida counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Abagnale's guard now.
Almeida is pushing down on Abagnale's leg trying to pass to half guard. Abagnale is fighting to maintain full guard but Almeida has managed to sneak the leg through.

Almeida stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Abagnale to get to his feet.
Abagnale fails in his attempt to clinch.
Abagnale shoots for a takedown but Almeida saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Abagnale cracks Almeida with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Almeida shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Abagnale pushes Almeida off and gets back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Abagnale is looking to escape.
Almeida tries to pass to full mount but Abagnale defends it.

Almeida seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Abagnale is looking to control Almeida's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Abagnale avoid being mounted?

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Almeida shoots in for a double leg but Abagnale sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Abagnale tries to clinch there but Almeida circles away.

Almeida bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Almeida cracks Abagnale with a big right hand but Abagnale just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Abagnale is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Abagnale is not content to let Almeida control the position.
Almeida might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Abagnale kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Almeida is looking to advance position but Abagnale won't allow it.
Abagnale is not content to let Almeida control the position.
Almeida stops Abagnale from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paulo Almeida showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Abagnale thuds his shin into the meat of Almeida's side.

Almeida feints and as Abagnale raises his hands in defense, Almeida changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Abagnale wants to stand and escape but Almeida is having none of it.

Almeida is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Almeida stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Abagnale swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Abagnale will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Abagnale wants to get back to his feet but Almeida is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Abagnale has his feet on Almeida's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Abagnale gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Almeida is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Abagnale is looking to improve his position.

Almeida is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Abagnale reverses the position - he's now on top in Almeida's guard.

Abagnale gets to his feet. Almeida looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Abagnale tries to buck Almeida off but Almeida is having none of it.
Almeida remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Despite being in the dominant position, Paulo Almeida just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
