PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edgar Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sokku Namazu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Namazu has chosen Openning Naruto - Hero comeback as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Namazu as he jumps to the side.

Young shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Young was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Young has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Namazu's face.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Young cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Namazu can't escape the position.
Young throws a sloppy strike and Namazu uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Namazu has ended up in Young's guard.

Young is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Namazu drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Young manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Namazu has Young in his guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Young throws and elbow that misses. Namazu uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Young's guard. Nice move by Namazu!
Young has control of Namazu's left arm, preventing Namazu from doing any damage.
Namazu wants to stand and escape but instead Young has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Young makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Young slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Young misses with the ground and pound.
Young lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Young working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Namazu is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Young throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Namazu works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Young is nestled in close to Namazu, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Namazu is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Young's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Young's back!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
