Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Swagger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Marv (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Swagger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alexander Marv!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marv scores with a takedown into Swagger's guard.
Marv stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Swagger swivels though and keeps the full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Swagger is on top in guard.
Swagger trying to control but Marv is working from the bottom.
Marv seems keen to control Swagger's posture.
Swagger with a flurry of punches that miss.
Swagger trying to control but Marv is working from the bottom.
Marv should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marv is pulling down on Swagger's head to control his posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Swagger trying to control the position from guard on top but Marv is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Marv can do anything to dispel that myth.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Swagger tries for a takedown but Marv circles away easily

and Marv decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Swagger's guard.

Marv stands up from guard. Let's bang!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Swagger gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Marv counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Swagger not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Marv is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Swagger is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Swagger has escaped and now he's on top!

Swagger seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Marv is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Marv really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Swagger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Marv is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Swagger trying to control but Marv is working from the bottom.
Swagger is really struggling to control Marv but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Marv utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Marv looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Swagger is breathing heavily.
Marv wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Swagger uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Swagger is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Marv is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Marv looking to sit in guard and control but Swagger gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander Marv dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Swagger is looking to land body kicks.
Jack Swagger is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Marv shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Swagger moves into full guard.
Marv tries to stand but Swagger is controlling from the bottom.
Alexander Marv has got the better of the ground game so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marv slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Marv forces his way into half guard.
Swagger is trying to get back to full guard.
Marv looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Swagger is trying to stand.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Swagger regains full guard. Nicely done.
Marv wants to stand but Swagger is controlling his posture from full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Swagger misses with a takedown

and Marv decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Swagger's guard.

Marv stands up from Swagger's guard - Marv perhaps looking for a knockout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Marv moves into the clinch successfully.
Swagger is looking to break free of the clinch but Marv has double underhooks.

Marv ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Marv no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Swagger won't allow Marv to sweep him here.
Marv keeping moving, preventing Swagger from controlling successfully.
Swagger stops Marv from standing up.
Marv is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Swagger passes Marv's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Marv is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Marv missing with punches from the bottom.
Swagger is looking to take a break and control but Marv is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Marv throws a head kick that misses.
Marv tries a head kick but it misses.

Marv forces Swagger back against the cage and clinches.

Marv breaks from the clinch.
Marv is looking to clinch but Swagger is avoiding it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander Marv showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Marv closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Marv lands in his opponent's guard.

Marv tries to free his leg and advance position but Swagger is retaining full guard.
Swagger wants to stand and escape but Marv is having none of it.
Swagger tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Marv distracts Swagger with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Marv lands a couple of elbows.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Marv stands up from Swagger's guard - Marv perhaps looking for a knockout.

Marv gets a clinch.
Stalling in the clinch from Marv.
Marv tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Swagger goes for a takedown in the clinch but Marv prevents it.

Marv manages to break the clinch.
Marv feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Swagger's calf.
Marv throws a half hearted mid kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Swagger misses with a takedown attempt

and Marv counters with a nice double leg into side control. Swagger won't be happy with that.
Marv tries to move into full mount but can't pass Swagger's legs.
Marv looks up at the clock and then as Swagger takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Marv smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Swagger tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Marv wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Marv decides to stand back up. Marv steps back and let's Swagger get back to his feet.
Swagger shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Marv counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Swagger. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Marv performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Swagger trying to control here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Marv winds up and cracks Swagger with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Marv trying to control the pace.
Swagger on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Marv working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Swagger's thigh. Swagger counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Marv is stalling in the full guard.
Jack Swagger has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Marv looking to sit in guard and control but Swagger gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Swagger wants to control from the top but Marv keeps moving.
Alexander Marv is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Marv is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Swagger is aware though and is defending well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Alexander Marv comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Marv has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
