Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mat Matmat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Curtis Lind (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matmat comes to the cage accompanied by pass tha axe. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mat Matmat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Curtis Lind!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matmat on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Matmat swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Matmat tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lind swivels and escapes.
Lind scoring well with a low kick there.
Matmat throws a body punch but Lind moves out of range.
Matmat misses with a series of wild punches.
Lind fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Matmat takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Matmat avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lind lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Matmat slips under a jab from Lind.
Matmat throws a hook but Lind avoids it easily.
Lind connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Matmat moves out of range as Lind strikes.
Lind throws a shot from downtown. Matmat moves away and avoids it.
Lind clobbers Matmat with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Lind ducks under a wild hook from Matmat.

An inside leg kick lands from Lind.
A jab from Matmat misses.
Lind throws out a leg kick but Matmat moves out of range and Lind only half commits.
Lind swings for the body but Matmat moves out of range.
Matmat uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lind.
Lind throws a low kick but it's checked well by Matmat.
A big right from Matmat misses.
Matmat takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

and Matmat counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Matmat misses with a wild body shot.
Lind scores with a jab to the head.
Curtis Lind seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lind misses with a straight right.
A punch lands to the side of Matmat 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Lind bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Lind tries to clinch but Matmat moves out of range.
Lind closes this distance looking for a takedown but Matmat circles away.
Mat Matmat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Curtis Lind.
Matmat fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lind manages to avoid it.

Lind closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lind lands in his opponent's guard.

Lind controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Matmat keeping moving, preventing Lind from controlling successfully.

Matmat isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lind stacks Matmat on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lind!
Lind wants to control but Matmat is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Lind throws a head kick but Matmat moves out of range.
Some bone on bone action there as Matmat checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Matmat leaves Lind with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Matmat gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Lind bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Lind throws a leg kick which misses Matmat's front leg but catches the back leg as Matmat tries to avoid it.
Lind takes a swing at Matmat's ribcage but misses.
Lind is looking to slow Matmat down with leg kicks.
Lind tries to clinch but Matmat is having none of it.
Lind connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Lind closes the distance and clinches up with Matmat, looking for a takedown. Lind pushes Matmat against the cage but Matmat circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Lind looks to land a left hand but Matmat moved out of range nicely.
Lind displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Matmat throws out the jab.

Lind shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Matmat napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Lind wants to control but Matmat is keeping him busy.

Matmat tries to buck Lind off but Lind is having none of it.

You can see the frustration on Matmat's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Lind tries to score with some ground and pound. Matmat controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Matmat avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Matmat slips under a jab.
Matmat misses with a hook.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Matmat checks a leg kick.
Lind lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Lind scoring well with a low kick there.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Lind throws a looping overhand right but Matmat ducks down to avoid it.
Lind throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Matmat's waist but Matmat gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lind off to one side.
Mat Matmat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Curtis Lind.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lind looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Matmat throws a lazy right hand but Lind sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Matmat misses with a body shot
and Lind counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Lind decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Lind is taking a breather. Matmat says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Matmat has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lind is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Curtis Lind showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Matmat misses with a body punch

Lind lands with a thumping leg kick.
Lind throws and low kick but Matmat moves out of range easily.
Matmat throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lind blocks a jab.
A chopping leg kick lands by Lind.
Lind scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Lind tests Matmat's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Lind drives through and clinches with Matmat against the cage.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Lind obliges.

Matmat has Lind pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Matmat pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Lind tumbling to the mat - Matmat dives into Lind's guard.
Lind controls Matmat momentarily but Matmat frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Matmat wants to pass the guard but Lind is keeping the position.
Matmat trying to control the position from guard on top but Lind is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mat Matmat has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Matmat missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Lind trying to keep a closed guard but Matmat is proving a slippery customer.
Matmat trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Lind is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Matmat won't allow Lind to sweep him here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Lind dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Lind lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Lind defending well as Matmat loads up on a big left hand.
No luck for Lind with that takedown attempt.
Matmat is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Lind swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Curtis Lind seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Lind shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Matmat manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Matmat is looking for a triangle but Lind pushes his legs off easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Matmat controls Lind momentarily but Lind frees himself.

and Lind counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lind.
Curtis Lind is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Lind wants to control from the top but Matmat keeps moving.

Curtis Lind comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lind has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
