Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juan Kombat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Killer Elite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Juan Kombat could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Killer Elite's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kombat drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kombat is chipping away with strikes.

Kombat tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kombat has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Elite really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kombat. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Elite throws a strike from the bottom but Kombat uses the opportunity to take his back.
Elite rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Kombat uses his free foot to push down on Elite's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Elite.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Elite is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kombat looking to control but Elite is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kombat tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Elite srikes from the bottom but he's lost position and has given up his back.

Elite breaks Kombat's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Elite wants to get up but he can't break Kombat's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Elite can do anything to dispel that myth.

Elite is arching his back trying to strike from the bottom but Kombat turns him over and now has his back.

Elite is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kombat gets his way!

Elite misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
