PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ludi Sisoje (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Drago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ludi Sisoje!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ivan Drago!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Radbod Blank and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sisoje tries a head kick but it misses.

Drago throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sisoje was covering up waiting for the punch and Drago finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Drago won't allow Sisoje to get back to his feet.
Drago would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Drago stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sisoje swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Drago controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Drago stands up and waves to Sisoje to follow him.

Drago moves in looking to clinch but Sisoje pushes him off.
Sisoje tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Some wild striking there from Sisoje.
Sisoje tries to close the distance and clinch but Drago swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Sisoje closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Drago to the mat! Drago manages to get full guard.

Sisoje seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Drago is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Drago tries to free his leg and advance position but Sisoje is retaining full guard.

A close round but Ivan Drago will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Sisoje shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Drago but Drago pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ludi Sisoje is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Drago has gone for a leg lock! Sisoje slips out almost immediately though and dives into Drago's guard.
Drago tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sisoje stays in close to Drago's body and controls the position.
Drago throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Drago trying to keep a closed guard but Sisoje is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ludi Sisoje will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Drago keeps the fight on the outside.
Sisoje lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Drago circles away quickly and effectively.
Sisoje leaves Drago with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Drago closes the distance looking to clinch
and Sisoje counters with a big head kick but Drago shrugs it off.

Nice takedown defense from Sisoje. No joy for Drago on that attempt.

Drago moves into the clinch successfully.
Drago tries to pull guard but Sisoje won't allow it.
Ludi Sisoje has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ivan Drago.
Drago takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Drago can't break the clinch.

Sisoje works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Sisoje passes easily into side control. Nice work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Drago prevents Sisoje from moving into mount.
Drago wants to control but Sisoje postures up.
Drago is looking to reverse the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Sisoje drives through and clinches with Drago against the cage.

Sisoje gets control of Drago's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sisoje will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Sisoje is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Drago drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Sisoje manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Drago has Sisoje in his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sisoje pushes down on Drago's leg and manages to get into half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Drago is trying to stand up here but Sisoje is controlling him well.

Sisoje decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Sisoje tries a head kick but it misses.

Sisoje clinches up with Drago and pushes him back against the cage.
Drago wants a takedown but no success here.
Sisoje fails to pull guard.
Sisoje tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Sisoje is trying to drag Drago to the mat but Drago just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Drago drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sisoje gets the underhooks and prevents it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ludi Sisoje showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Sisoje has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
