PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between ANDREI PACMAN (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Ah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ah is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Led Boots. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, ANDREI PACMAN!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mr Ah!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Valeri Chadov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ah tries to clinch up but PACMAN circles away and keeps his distance.
Ah fails with a takedown attempt.

Ah shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in PACMAN's guard.
Ah wants to control from the top but PACMAN keeps moving.
Ah scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Ah wants to pass the guard but PACMAN is keeping the position.
PACMAN is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ah content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Ah throwing strikes from guard but PACMAN blocks nicely.
Ah throws a big right hand that misses.
PACMAN avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Ah throws a strike but PACMAN rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

PACMAN gets to his feet - Ah follows without any prompting.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
PACMAN swats away the attempt to clinch by Ah.
PACMAN doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Ah counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Ah trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Ah is looking to work some ground and pound but PACMAN has wrist control.
Ah wants to stand but PACMAN is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ah postures up in PACMAN's guard and throws a big left but PACMAN blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ah pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. PACMAN is keeping the position for now.
PACMAN wants to stand up but Ah is controlling him.
PACMAN is breathing heavily.
Ah working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Ah advances to half guard.
PACMAN is looking to escape.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Ah decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
PACMAN keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Ah missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Ah stands up from half guard.
Ah throws a wild body kick that PACMAN sees coming a mile off.
Ah tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mr Ah dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Ah looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for PACMAN!
Ah with good strikes from the mount here!
PACMAN is bucking up trying to escape but Ah cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Mr Ah has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ah throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Ah looking to finish with strikes here!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ah punishing his opponent with strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ah lands a heavy elbow.

Ah lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Ah postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. PACMAN looks a forlorn figure.
Ah in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Ah landing shots from mount.
Ah throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Ah landing shots from mount.
Ah lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Ah looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Ah working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Ah lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ah jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but PACMAN manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Ah in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Ah in side control, throwing shots but PACMAN defends.
PACMAN parries the strikes from Ah easily there. Ah is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable PACMAN to escape.

Ah scores with a couple of short elbows.
Ah scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at PACMAN to see if he's OK.
Ah looking to punish the body of his opponent here but PACMAN is avoiding damage well.
Ah working the head with strikes.
Ah fails to land a wild elbow strike.
PACMAN defending against the ground and pound.
Ah cracks PACMAN with an elbow. That is naaassty.
PACMAN is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ah is controlling him well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ah is working PACMAN over with some ground and pound from side control.
PACMAN defending against the ground and pound.
Ah working the ground and pound but PACMAN is defending the strikes.
Ah working the ground and pound but PACMAN is defending the strikes.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ah wants to clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ah shoots in and bounces PACMAN off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mr Ah showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Ah moves in looking to clinch but PACMAN pushes him off.
Ah tries to clinch but PACMAN moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ah tries for a takedown but PACMAN circles away easily

and PACMAN counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

PACMAN gets to his feet - Ah follows without any prompting.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

PACMAN bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

PACMAN stands up and beckons Ah to his feet.
Ah looks to clinch

and PACMAN counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ah!
PACMAN is looking to stand but PACMAN has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Ah has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Ah tries to hold on but PACMAN pushes him away.
PACMAN wants to stand but Ah is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ah can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ah bucks PACMAN off and manages to get back to his feet!

PACMAN circles away from the clinch attempt

and PACMAN counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ah looks like he's trying to stand up.

PACMAN stands up out of the half guard.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ah looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Ah shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ah was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Ah trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Ah is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. PACMAN can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
A nice elbow there by Ah.
Ah with good strikes from the mount here!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ah can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as PACMAN is looking to escape.
PACMAN is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
BOOM! Ah connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Mr Ah is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Ah scoring with strikes but PACMAN is staying in there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Poor strikes thrown by Ah there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
ANDREI PACMAN has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ah sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

ANDREI PACMAN showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ah has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
