Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Terry Lowe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Ahlquist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lowe shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ahlquist sprawls well. Ahlquist wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lowe gets slowly back to his feet.
Ahlquist tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Lowe shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ahlquist pinned against the cage. Ahlquist gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Ahlquist changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lowe tries to avoid it but Ahlquist manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lowe to the ground. Lowe escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ahlquist throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lowe.

Lowe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lowe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lowe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ahlquist is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Lowe to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lowe shrugs it off.

Lowe breaks Ahlquist's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lowe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ahlquist is on top in guard.

Lowe is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ahlquist is aware though and is defending well.

Lowe throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
David Ahlquist is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ahlquist shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Ahlquist postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Lowe looks a forlorn figure.

Ahlquist is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lowe can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
