Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Preved Medvedov!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Medvedov tries to clinch up.
Medvedov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gimel paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Medvedov throws a sloppy head kick and Gimel moves out of range easily.
Gimel is trying hard to land a takedown here. Medvedov sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Gimel shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Medvedov pinned against the cage. Medvedov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Medvedov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gimel shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Medvedov sprawls well. Medvedov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gimel gets slowly back to his feet.

Medvedov is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gimel gets his way!

Medvedov is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Medvedov tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Gimel tries to pass the half guard into mount. Medvedov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Medvedov is looking to control Gimel's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Medvedov avoid being mounted?
Medvedov is in trouble now - Gimel has advanced to mount!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Medvedov is controlling an arm, preventing Gimel from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Gimel swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Medvedov is now in Gimel's guard. A big mistake from Gimel there, giving up the dominant position!

Gimel is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gimel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Medvedov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Medvedov tries to clinch but Gimel is having none of it.

and Gimel counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Gimel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Medvedov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Medvedov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gimel manages to get himself to full guard.

Gimel looking for a guillotine here but Medvedov defends easily.

Gimel is looking for a triangle here but Medvedov uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Gimel manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Medvedov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gimel is working away from the top position though.

Gimel is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Medvedov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Gimel moves into full mount!

Gimel goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Medvedov turns into him and now he's in Gimel's guard.

Gimel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Medvedov defends it easily.

Medvedov is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Gimel shoots in for a double leg but Medvedov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Gimel jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Medvedov is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Medvedov and Gimel has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Gimel goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Medvedov rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Gimel's guard! Nice work there by Medvedov!

Gimel is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Gimel isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Medvedov stacks Gimel on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Medvedov!

Gimel gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Gimel wants to get back to full guard but Medvedov has passed into side control.

Medvedov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Gimel is desperately trying to improve his position but Medvedov has a good base and remains in mount.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

I would just about give that final round to Preved Medvedov.
I think Gimel has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
