Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bocano Smithian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Bocano Smithian has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bocano Smithian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Thomas Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smithian throws a series of punches but Cruz moves out of range.
Smithian walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Cruz checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Smithian misses with a jab, cross combination.
Cruz displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Smithian throws out the jab.
Smithian lets loose with a powerful body kick. Cruz will feel that in the morning.
Cruz lands a jab to the head.
Smithian pivots, looking for a leg kick but Cruz is out of range and Smithian settles back down.
A combination from Smithian does no damage.
Cruz avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Smithian throws a right and a left that both miss.

Smithian moves into range and clinches up with Cruz.
Smithian wants to get back to striking at distance but Cruz won't allow it.
Smithian has had enough of the clinch but Cruz keeps him there for the moment.
Smithian is looking to break free of the clinch but Cruz has double underhooks.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smithian stops a takedown attempt from Cruz.

Smithian is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Cruz tries to score a body lock takedown but Smithian shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Cruz prevents Smithian from breaking the clinch.
Cruz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Smithian is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Bocano Smithian has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thomas Cruz.

Cruz gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Smithian regains guard.
Smithian is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cruz advances position into side control!

Cruz working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Smithian can't do much from the bottom here.

Cruz is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Smithian knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Smithian tries to buck Cruz off but Cruz is having none of it.

Smithian stops Cruz from passing to mount.

Cruz goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Smithian rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Cruz's guard! Nice work there by Smithian!
Smithian has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cruz is proving hard to escape from.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Smithian looking to sit in guard and control but Cruz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Cruz trying to control but Smithian is working from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cruz drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Smithian dives on top into guard.
Smithian is breathing heavily.

Cruz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smithian defends it easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smithian trying to control the position from guard on top but Cruz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Thomas Cruz will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Smithian throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Smithian really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Smithian tries to clinch there but Cruz circles away.
Smithian misses with a wild combination.

Smithian throws a nice looking combination but Cruz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A jab from Cruz misses.
Smithian lands a lovely overhand right.
Smithian misses with a two punch combination.
Smithian throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Cruz.
Cruz throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

Cruz looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Cruz is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Smithian looks calm but he's in trouble here. Cruz gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Smithian is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Cruz lets go of the hold and Smithian can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Thomas Cruz!
