Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Demian Brites (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kobus Roets (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kobus Roets!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roets displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Brites.
Brites fails with the takedown.
Roets uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Brites.
Roets is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Roets staying out of range there.
Brites dives in and grabs Roets's left leg, looking for a takedown. Roets pushes down on Brites's head and hops out.

Roets clinches up against the cage.
Brites fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Brites jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Roets walks away with a smile on his face. Brites gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Roets is leaning against Brites and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Roets gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Brites regains guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Roets throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Brites works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Roets stands up from Brites's guard - Roets perhaps looking for a knockout.

Roets gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Brites fails to pull guard.
Roets lands a nice uppercut.

Roets has Brites pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Roets pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Brites tumbling to the mat - Roets dives into Brites's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Roets gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Roets gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Roets lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
A short body shot lands from Roets as the two fighters clinch.
Roets lands a nice shot to the body.
Roets content to slow the pace in the clinch.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Roets.
Roets lands a nice elbow.
Roets scores with a hook to the body.
The referee calls for Roets to work.

Roets has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Brites clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Roets is looking to control Brites but Brites is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Roets is trying to stick to Brites's back but Brites is turning into Roets. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Roets's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Brites.
Roets is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Brites wants to pass the guard but Roets is keeping the position.
Roets has Brites pulled in close to control his posture.
Roets is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Brites postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Roets is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Brites, into his guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Roets moves into range and clinches up with Brites.
Roets lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Brites has had enough of the clinch but Roets keeps him there for the moment.

Roets has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Brites regains guard immediately.
Roets postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Brites utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Roets stands up and waves to Brites to follow him.
Kobus Roets is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Roets uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Brites.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Brites is defended easily by Roets.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Brites shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Roets but Roets pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Roets lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Brites tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Roets is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Brites can't fight it off and eventually Roets manages to take the fight to the floor. Brites looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Still in half guard, Roets seems content to control.
Roets slips a nice elbow through Brites's hands, connecting with Brites's forehead.
Brites wants to sweep but Roets has passed to side control!
Roets is staying tight to Brites's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Roets decides to stand back up.

Roets changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Brites looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Brites is looking to reverse the position.
Roets grinds an elbow into Brites's temple.
Roets is looking to take a break and control but Brites is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Brites takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Kobus Roets comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Roets has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
