Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Coleman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Richlin! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coleman has closed the distance and engaged Richlin in a clinch.
Coleman has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Richlin is trying to keep an underhook but Coleman manages to get the takedown into half guard. Coleman is keen to just control but Richlin is a slippery customer. Coleman slows the pace down in half guard. Coleman wants to control but Richlin is keeping him busy. Coleman is looking for a kimura but Richlin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Coleman to get the leverage. Coleman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Richlin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coleman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Coleman trying to control the action but Richlin is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Richlin misses with a hook. Coleman lands with a kick to the temple. Richlin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Coleman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Richlin pinned against the cage. Richlin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Richlin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Coleman clinches up with Richlin and pushes him back against the cage. Coleman holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Richlin tries to circle away but Coleman has him pinned against the cage. Coleman tries to pull guard but Richlin won't allow it.
Richlin wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Coleman has him pressed against the cage. Coleman unloads a knee to the mid-section. Coleman drops down looking for an ankle pick but Richlin pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Coleman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Coleman drives through with a takedown into guard. Coleman throws a big right hand that misses. Coleman trying to control the position from guard on top but Richlin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coleman controls from within his opponent's guard. Richlin has momentary wrist control but Coleman slips an elbow through the middle. Coleman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Richlin is keeping the position for now. Coleman postures up in Richlin's guard and throws a big left but Richlin blocks it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Coleman wants to control from the top but Richlin keeps moving.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Nice sprawl there from Richlin as Coleman shoots in. Coleman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Richlin's waist but Richlin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Coleman off to one side. Richlin throws a series of punches but Coleman avoids them all with ease. Richlin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A combination from Richlin does no damage. Richlin cracks Coleman with a good jab. Richlin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Coleman. Coleman wants to clinch up but Richlin keeps it at a distance. Richlin misses with a series of wild punches.
Richlin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Tommy Coleman dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
A head kick misses from Coleman. Richlin throws a looping overhand right but Coleman ducks down to avoid it. Coleman misses with a series of wild punches.
Coleman closes the distance and clinches. Coleman misses with an elbow over the top. Richlin is looking to break free of the clinch but Coleman has double underhooks. Richlin prevents a takedown attempt there.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Richlin wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Coleman stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

and Coleman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Richlin won't be happy with that.
That's one minute gone in the round. Richlin being controlled for a moment. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Richlin can do anything to dispel that myth. Coleman tries for a kimura but Richlin is defending well. Richlin is trying to buck Coleman off.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Coleman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Richlin keeps working. Coleman throwing shots but missing, from side control. Richlin is not content to let Coleman control the position. Richlin regains half guard there - taking advantage of Coleman's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coleman wants to take a breather but Richlin is having none of it.

Richlin darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Coleman throws a series of punches but Richlin moves out of range. Frank Richlin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Coleman throws a nice looking combination but Richlin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Coleman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Coleman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Coleman thows a body shot but no joy. Frank Richlin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Coleman is looking to land body kicks. Richlin misses with a wild body shot. Richlin falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Coleman counter with a right hand. Coleman defending well as Richlin loads up on a big left hand. Richlin dodges the punch combination from Coleman.

Richlin is breathing heavily. Coleman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Richlin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Richlin is trying to get back to his feet. Richlin parries the strikes from Coleman easily there. Coleman is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Richlin to escape.
Richlin avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Coleman. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Coleman makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Tommy Coleman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Coleman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Coleman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Coleman looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Nice defenses there by Coleman. Richlin tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Coleman clinches up against the cage. Coleman lands a good knee to the midsection. Richlin won't want to take too many of those. Coleman landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Richlin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Richlin tries to break free but Coleman pushes him back against the cage. Coleman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Richlin takes a kick to the side of the head. Coleman scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

and Coleman counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Richlin! Coleman wants to control the pace but Richlin is squirming around nicely. Coleman raining down shots from the mount! Coleman has control of Richlin's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Richlin regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Coleman is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Richlin is in real trouble.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Coleman wants to control but Richlin manages to buck him off and is now in Coleman's guard! Nice work there by Richlin! Coleman is trying to keep Richlin in close.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Richlin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Coleman moves into the clinch successfully.
Richlin has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Coleman manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Richlin trying to stand up but can't free himself from Coleman's guard.
