PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rashad Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leon Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harris has chosen Dizzy Rascal Bonkers as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Leon Harris!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones wants to clinch.
Harris throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Harris gets the takedown into side control.
Harris trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom.
Jones is trying to control Harris's posture but Harris avoids it.
Jones tries to improve position but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Harris decides to stand back up. Harris steps back and let's Jones get back to his feet.
Jones avoids a kick to the body.
Leon Harris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Harris shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jones is trying to defend but Harris finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Jones keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Harris throwing shots but Jones is blocking nicely.
Harris wants to take a breather but Jones is having none of it.
Jones tries to get to full guard but Harris has control of the leg.

Jones's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Harris looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Harris had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily.
Jones throwing strikes but missing.
Harris wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment.
Jones is looking to work some ground and pound but Harris has wrist control.
Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Jones gets the takedown into side control.
Harris looks gassed!
Harris is not content to let Jones control the position.
Harris is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Jones is controlling him well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Leon Harris will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Harris closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Harris lands in his opponent's guard.
Jones has a closed guard, preventing Harris from standing up.
Jones on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jones tries to get out of the position.
Jones wants to stand up but Harris is controlling him.
Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Harris manages to get himself to full guard.
Harris can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jones controls the pace.

Jones is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Harris can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jones controls the pace.

Harris is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Harris utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jones forces his way into half guard.
Harris is refusing to be controlled, as Jones sits in half guard.
Harris avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jones.
Jones keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Jones takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Jones trying to control from half guard but Harris is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jones looks to land a left hand but Harris moved out of range nicely.

Jones drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Harris tries to bench press Jones off him but Jones keeps the position.
Jones tries to advance to mount but can't.

Jones content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Harris is looking to reverse the position.
Jones advances to mount.
Harris can't escape the position.
Jones is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Jones scoring with strikes but Harris is staying in there.
Jones is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Harris can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rashad Jones dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Harris is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jones looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Jones is trying to control. Harris wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Harris trying to hold on to Jones's head to control him but Jones postures up.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Harris is looking to control Jones's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Harris avoid being mounted?

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt
and Harris counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Jones fails to land the takedown.
Harris clinches but Jones breaks the clinch

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Harris wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Jones escapes and gets back to his feet.
Harris leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rashad Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Harris counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jones's guard now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Harris accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Harris is one step ahead there.
Harris is pushing down on Jones's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jones is fighting to maintain full guard but Harris has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jones works his way to full guard. Good work.

Harris trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jones's guard.
Jones managing to control the position.
Jones lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Harris!
Harris keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jones lands a big elbow.

Jones connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Jones tries to control but Harris wriggling away.

Jones trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rashad Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
