Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sakuraba Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergio Cardoso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Gimme Shelter. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sakuraba Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sergio Cardoso! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie gets the takedown into side control. Gracie goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cardoso has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gracie but great work by Cardoso. Gracie is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Cardoso is controlling him well. Gracie tries to buck Cardoso off but Cardoso is having none of it. Cardoso misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Gracie is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Gracie is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Cardoso wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy.
Gracie decides to stand and escape the position. Cardoso shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Cardoso wants to clinch. Gracie looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Gracie is breathing heavily. Cardoso is looking to control Gracie's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cardoso avoid being mounted?
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Cardoso has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gracie is working away from the top position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cardoso is pressing down on Gracie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Cardoso working a defensive guard but Gracie passes into half guard.

Gracie missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Gracie tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cardoso knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Gracie wants to control but Cardoso is keeping him busy. Gracie is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Cardoso! Gracie has control of Cardoso's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cardoso regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Gracie working for a guillotine from mount but Cardoso is in no mood to give up. Cardoso is controlling an arm, preventing Gracie from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Gracie is working hard here to advance position. Gracie is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Cardoso has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Cardoso! Gracie is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cardoso's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cardoso's back! Gracie working for a choke but Cardoso is defending well. Gracie is persistently looking for the submission but Cardoso is defending it well.
Gracie is trying to stick to Cardoso's back but Cardoso is turning into Gracie. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Gracie's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Cardoso. Gracie looking for a guillotine here but Cardoso defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Cardoso passes into half guard.
Cardoso is thwarting Gracie's attempts to control the position. Gracie is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Cardoso pulls his head out easily. Gracie looking for subs from the bottom but Cardoso mounts him! Gracie really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Gracie is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Cardoso thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Gracie tries to control the position but Cardoso now has his back.
Cardoso doesn't have the hooks in and Gracie manages to turn into his guard.
Gracie prevents Cardoso from getting back to his feet. Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gracie scores with a takedown into Cardoso's guard. Gracie sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cardoso's guard. Gracie is looking for a kimura but Cardoso is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gracie to get the leverage. The fighters are battling for position here. Cardoso manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Gracie wants to pass the guard but Cardoso is keeping the position. Gracie forces his way into half guard. Cardoso makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cardoso. Gracie decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Cardoso is breathing heavily. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Gracie.
Gracie lands a nice looking body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cardoso misses with an attempted mid kick.
Cardoso slips a straight right by Gracie. Sakuraba Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cardoso shoots and misses and Gracie counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cardoso is keeping the position for now. Gracie trying to control but Cardoso is working from the bottom. Gracie decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Gracie avoids a kick to the body.

Gracie clinches. Gracie lands a right hand that snaps the head of Cardoso backwards. A hook to the body from Gracie.
Gracie's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Gracie has picked Cardoso up - he's going for a ride! Gracie dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Gracie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Gracie wants to work for an arm triangle but Cardoso is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cardoso looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Gracie is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Cardoso working to try and regain half guard.
Gracie trying to control but Cardoso is having none of it. Cardoso stops Gracie from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Cardoso tries to lock up and control but Gracie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Gracie controlling the pace for now. Gracie swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Cardoso is now in Gracie's guard. A big mistake from Gracie there, giving up the dominant position!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie keeping moving, preventing Cardoso from controlling successfully. Gracie had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Cardoso is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Gracie Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Cardoso's back instead. Cardoso turns into Gracie and is now in his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Cardoso controlling the action here. Gracie actively working from the bottom here. Cardoso seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Gracie moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gracie lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cardoso! Cardoso stops Gracie from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sakuraba Gracie dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Gracie feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Gracie stands and throws Cardoso's legs to the side, diving into side control. Gracie tries to advance to mount but can't. Gracie is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cardoso has escaped the position, nice work there. Gracie decides to take the fight back to the feet. Gracie throws a series of punches but Cardoso moves out of range. Gracie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gracie showed some decent athleticism there. Gracie trying to mount his opponent but Cardoso defends it. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cardoso is trying to maintain the position but Gracie is very close to passing his half guard. Gracie is trying to work for a kimura but Cardoso is defending well.
Sakuraba Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gracie is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Cardoso throws a right and a left that Gracie avoids nicely.

Cardoso closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gracie circles away. Cardoso shoots for a takedown but Gracie saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Gracie gets a clinch. Gracie gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cardoso is staying active underneath Gracie, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gracie lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Gracie is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cardoso doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gracie. Gracie works his way into side control. Gracie looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cardoso is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Gracie looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Cardoso manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Gracie is looking for a kimura here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Gracie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cardoso defends it well. Gracie has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Cardoso defend it? Gracie steps over the head and cranks it - Cardoso is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Gracie!
