The bell rings for round one and we are underway! del Valle wants to clinch up but Paine keeps it at a distance. Paine lands with an uppercut that bounces del Valle off the cage and back into rage. del Valle displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Paine throws out the jab. del Valle throws a series of punches but Paine avoids them all with ease. Paine misses with a body kick. Paine avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. del Valle fails to land with a series of punches.

That's one minute gone in the round. Paine moves into the clinch. del Valle wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Paine has him pressed against the cage. Paine jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as del Valle walks away with a smile on his face. Paine gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Paine keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Paine misses with a looping left. Paine shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. del Valle swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Paine bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. del Valle throws a lazy right hand but Paine sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Paine takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. del Valle avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. del Valle waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Paine. Paine looks to land a combination but del Valle avoids it well. del Valle throws a hook but Paine blocks it. del Valle throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
del Valle misses with a few strikes there.
del Valle closes the distance but Paine moves to the side and Paine connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Paine uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by del Valle.

Fernando del Valle dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and del Valle counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Paine's guard now. del Valle has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Paine is proving hard to escape from. Paine trying to control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Paine fakes high and swings low for a body shot but del Valle manages to avoid it. del Valle lands a body shot.

enabling Paine to counter with a crisp jab. Paine misses with a wild body shot. del Valle tries to clinch but Paine moves out of range.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from del Valle. del Valle throws a hook to the side of Paine's head but Paine sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Paine attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. del Valle misses with a hook. Paine ducked under it nicely. del Valle shoots in for a takedown and gets it. del Valle seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Paine does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Paine wants to control but del Valle is keeping busy.

Paine throws a jab when del Valle was well out of range. Paine circles away from the clinch attempt and Paine counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. del Valle tries to clinch but Paine moves away and Paine counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Paine stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Paine tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. del Valle smiles and moves away.

The fight stays on the outside here - Paine looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Paine thows a left - swing and a miss! If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. del Valle is working for a submission of some sort.
del Valle is thwarting Paine's attempts to control the position. Paine wants to improve his position but del Valle is controlling well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Fernando del Valle will probably get the nod. That's time! del Valle's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

That's one minute gone in the round. del Valle trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Paine can do anything to dispel that myth. Paine working a defensive guard but del Valle passes into half guard.
Paine won't allow del Valle to pass to mount. Paine is looking to control del Valle's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Paine avoid being mounted? del Valle is looking to take a break and control but Paine is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. del Valle passes to side control. Paine tries to get back to half guard but can't. You can see the frustration on Paine's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Paine tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but del Valle wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. del Valle has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Paine! del Valle with the ground and pound from mount. del Valle can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Paine is looking to escape. Maximillion Paine has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! del Valle punching from mount but Paine doing a good job of avoiding damage. del Valle wants to control the pace but Paine is squirming around nicely. Paine tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that's the end of the fight! Fernando del Valle showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for del Valle, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
