PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rafeu Maudonat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Dyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maudonat comes to the cage accompanied by La Talvera - Mon Paìs. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rafeu Maudonat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charles Dyer!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maudonat tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dyer paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Maudonat stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Maudonat wants it to stay on the feet.
Dyer tries for a takedown but Maudonat sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dyer shoots in for a takedown but Maudonat shows good takedown defense.
Rafeu Maudonat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles Dyer.
Maudonat closes the distance and clinches up with Dyer, looking for a takedown. Maudonat pushes Dyer against the cage but Dyer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dyer tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Maudonat swivels and escapes.

Charles Dyer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Maudonat has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dyer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Maudonat lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Maudonat lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dyer can do anything to dispel that myth.

Dyer tries to reverse the position but Maudonat maintains control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dyer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Maudonat has hold of Dyer's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Dyer manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Dyer is desperately trying to improve his position but Maudonat has a good base and remains in mount.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Dyer is wriggling around trying to escape.
Maudonat has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dyer avoids a series of strikes thrown by Maudonat.
Maudonat postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Dyer looks a forlorn figure.
Dyer can't escape the position.
Dyer really wants to buck Maudonat off and get back to his feet.

Maudonat misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Maudonat is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Dyer has managed to escape the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rafeu Maudonat will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dyer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dyer closes the distance and clinches up with Maudonat, looking for a takedown. Dyer pushes Maudonat against the cage but Maudonat circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
