PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Murzyn Murzyn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raging Roger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Murzyn Murzyn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raging Roger!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roger throws a leg kick but Murzyn checks it.
Murzyn shoots for a double leg takedown but Roger sprawls well. He's pushed Murzyn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Roger scores with a jab. Murzyn acknowledges it with a nod of the head.


It looks like Murzyn Murzyn has been cut.
Roger misses with a takedown attempt

and Murzyn counters with a single leg into guard. Roger didn't expect that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Murzyn postures up in Roger's guard and throws a big left but Roger blocks it.
Roger is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Roger is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Murzyn cracks Roger with a solid left hand.
Murzyn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Murzyn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Murzyn is looking to work some ground and pound but Roger has wrist control.
Murzyn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Roger wants to sweep but no luck.
Roger is trying to control the position but Murzyn postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Murzyn counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Murzyn is fighting to break Roger's control of his arms but Roger is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Murzyn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Murzyn throws a strike but Roger rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Roger is looking to stand up but Murzyn won't let him.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Roger throws a lazy body kick

and Murzyn counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Roger striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Murzyn sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Roger is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

You can see the frustration on Roger's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Roger tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

and Murzyn counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Murzyn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Roger on the ground.
Roger slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Murzyn with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Roger will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Roger had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Murzyn defends it easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Roger gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Murzyn prevents Roger from getting back to his feet.
Murzyn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Roger has his hands on Murzyn's head, controlling the position.

Roger working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Murzyn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Murzyn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Roger is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Murzyn off and has taken his back!
Murzyn is covering up but some of the strikes from Roger are getting through and doing damage.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Roger controlling the positon.

Roger is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Murzyn is defending well though. Roger let's go of the attempt for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Murzyn wants to get back to his feet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Murzyn decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Murzyn lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Murzyn thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Roger keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Murzyn stops Roger from getting back to his feet.
Roger has hold of Murzyn's hands but Murzyn slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Roger gets full guard.

Roger is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Roger scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Roger is keen to just control but Murzyn is a slippery customer.
Roger wants to pass to mount but Murzyn is defending the position.
Murzyn is in trouble now - Roger has advanced to mount!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Raging Roger comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Murzyn has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
