Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James J Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dominik Rys!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rys throws a head kick that misses.
Rys tries a head kick but it misses.
Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Rys sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Rys shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rys lets loose with a powerful body kick. Jones will feel that in the morning.
Rys stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James J Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones is looking to clinch but Rys is avoiding it.
Jones blocks a head kick by Rys.
Rys throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Rys throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily.
Jones sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Jones is breathing heavily.

Rys gets caught flat footed, as Jones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones is standing up over Rys. Rys looks to escape but Jones dives into side control.
Rys wants to get back to his feet but Jones drags him back down.

Jones tries to score with some ground and pound. Rys controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Rys is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Jones lands some shots froms side control.
Jones trying to control the position but Rys is working away.

Jones tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jones has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Rys is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jones asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jones just content to control the position.
Jones trying to control the action but Rys is working from the bottom.

Rys bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jones drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rys wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Rys is keeping the position.
Jones showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Rys keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
Jones looking to sit in guard and control but Rys gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Rys stands and steps away. Jones gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Rys has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dominik Rys will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Jones shoots for a takedown but Rys saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rys throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Rys makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
James J Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rys leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James J Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A head kick misses from Rys.
Jones throws a lazy head kick
and Rys counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Jones is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jones gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rys counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Rys tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Rys is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones lands a couple of digs.
Jones sitting in guard here, content to control.

Jones is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rys is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rys has escaped and now he's on top!

Jones pulls Rys in close to prevent any damage.
Jones on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jones tries to get out of the position.
Jones lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rys!

Rys bucks Jones off and manages to get back to his feet!
Dominik Rys seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Jones fails with the takedown.
Jones blocks a head kick by Rys.
Jones takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Jones tries to clinch there but Rys circles away.

Jones shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rys's guard.
Jones won't allow Rys to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Jones stays in close to Rys's body and controls the position.
Jones stops Rys from standing up.

Rys is working an open guard so Jones takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Jones blocks a head kick by Rys.
Jones looks for a takedown but Rys sprawls well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rys throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Rys tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rys manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dominik Rys showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

and Jones counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones cracks Rys with a solid left hand.

Jones advances to half guard.
Jones landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Rys is trying to stand back up but Jones is controlling him
Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jones lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Jones is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Rys is staying active underneath Jones, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jones passes to side control.
Rys is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Jones is controlling him well.
Rys is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jones connects with a decent elbow.
Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rys keeps working.
Jones creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jones has hold of Rys's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Rys seems comfortable defending it but Jones has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Rys is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Rys is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Jones couldn't care less - he's delighted!
